Renaissance Art and Influence

I always say that I am an art enthusiast, but it all links back with an interest of  a video game which gave me enough knowledge to pass my 11th standard history examination.

One of my favorite games of all time Assassin’s Creed II  which  shows how the Impact of the Renaissance has befallen European History in a wide way. Florence being the cradle of Art and Science.

Florence, Italy

This movement started because the period between 470 AD after the fall of Ancient Rome and before the beginning of the 14th century was known as the Dark Age, an era of suffering, grief, Famine, war and death.

What is renaissance?

Renaissance is a French word meaning rebirth. This movement was named renaissance as it was considered as the rebirth of ancient roman art and culture.

Mona Lisa (Leonardo Da Vinci)

By the end of the 15th Century renaissance was at its peak where artists like Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo were most renowned for their works, they used multiple techniques of, use of light, shadows, emotions and perspective. to portray their art and paintings in a real-life manner.

The last Supper (Leonardo Da Vinci)

Art developed in a substantial manner in the renaissance period. People like Lorenzo De Medici and the Medici family wanted that the poor people and peasants should have access to the beautiful places, but making it possible was difficult so they worked on making the entire Florence beautiful.

That is why Florence was the birthplace for renaissance because it was the only city at that time which could support and promote Budding artists and scientists.

Virgin of the Rocks (Leonardo Da Vinci)

Leonardo was famous for his paintings such as “Mona Lisa”, The “Last Supper” and “Virgin of the Rocks”. If you look at those paintings they have some hidden messages  and emotions and there are many theories  related to them.

David (Sculpture By Michelangelo, Focus on Details )

Other great artists also emerged from this movement like Raphael and Michelangelo  who was considered as the greatest artist of all time by sculpting two of the greatest marble masterpieces Pieta and David.

Renaissance gave birth to the new form of art which had meanings and impressions.
